Privacy notice
This site uses no advertising or third-party trackers. I measure traffic with a self-hosted Matomo, and comments run on a self-hosted Remark42. Everything runs on hardware I operate myself.

Hosting and server logs
The site is served from hardware I operate myself. When you visit, your browser sends technical connection data such as the requested address, time, transferred data, browser, operating system, referrer, and IP address. This is needed to deliver the page and to detect faults. Server logs are kept only briefly.
Traffic analysis with Matomo
Matomo runs on my own server at stats.stargazer.at. It records browser and operating-system details, approximate country, visit time, pages viewed, time on site, and clicked external links. Analysis only happens on the published site, and the data is not passed on to third parties.
Measurement only starts after you accept in the cookie banner, so the legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and Section 165 of the Austrian Telecommunications Act). You can withdraw consent or opt out at any time:
Comments with Remark42
Some blog posts use the Remark42 comment system at comment.stargazer.at. It runs in a container on hardware I operate myself, so comment data stays on my own server. Loading it transmits technical connection data and the address of the post.
To comment, you sign in with a provider you choose, and that provider takes part in the login. Remark42 requests the minimum scope from the sign-in provider and keeps only your user ID, username, and an avatar link. These are hashed or served through a proxy, and any other data the provider returns is discarded. Sensitive data is stored hashed and encrypted. Remark42 does no tracking and cannot follow your behaviour across other sites.
You can request an export of what is stored about you (a gz file) and have all data related to your activity deleted. Send a request to the address below.
Embedded content and links
Some older posts embed YouTube videos through the youtube-nocookie.com domain. The video loads once the post is displayed. External websites open only when you follow a link, and their own privacy notices then apply.
Your rights and contact
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, or data portability, withdraw consent, or object to processing. You can also complain to the Austrian data protection authority (Datenschutzbehörde).
