Why Facebook is evil
Now that's a strong title here guys, but let's have a look for its reasons and start out with some simple math and the way things used to be before most people run into the golden cage of Facebook. We all agree, Faceb...
Was zur Hölle?
Speed up!
I don't deny that my blog wasn't too fast during the last year, which is one of those problems that are simply annoying but not fixed with high priority as things 'work' - somehow. But now I decided to improve things....
Using .htaccess to migrate to https
If you change your website from http to https, it's usually a bigger problem due to the users that didn't update their bookmarks or just ignore the new links you sent them in an email announcement again and again. But...
Maintenance updates
The server has got a new IP. Now it's time to refurbish the websites too and update the themes and plugins to work with the new Wordpress APIs. As this includes some bigger changes I am not sure if things will be as s...
Hotlinking is a problem
Hotlinking or Inline Linking is using media hosted on foreign servers on a different homepage. In other words, it is stolen traffic as someone does have to pay for it - and that's the one hosting the image. Some guys...
A short update
As I was already working on my server machines, I have updated the links section of my blog - just to make sure they're up to date and in a good shape. So don't hesitate looking at them again.
IE6 blues
It's one if the most common problems with the old internet explorer that it handles the box model in a wrong way and I have been cursing for hours due to that problem. To be able to do some workarounds, Microsoft offe...
HTML/CSS height: 100%
Sometimes I wonder why browser developers are still alive just by estimating the number of web developers fighting with their software. Regarding me, I am eating tons of sweets here to calm down, preventing to beat up...
Huh?
As Toei Rei did a quite fine relaunch of her blog with her new design, I had a new motivation for doing something new with my blog. The result is the current view of the page.
Webdesign
Static webpages
Are you 'up to date' if you are still using a static webpage today? I wouldn't say that there is a global answer to that question and everybody's got to find out for himself. Usually I'm a big fan of automatism and te...
A feed for every language served
As I am blogging in English and German since quite a while now, I should have two separate rss feeds - one for every language. But as I am not having too much time to do such funky things, I usually just didn't do it....
Apache and OpenSSL
My SSL Certificate for the webserver expired - so I had to generate a new one, which is a perfect topic to blog about. Regarding SSL Certificates, there are two possibilities: you may buy an official one or you may ge...
Adam and Eve blogging
I know, I have not bashed the catholic church since some time - so here is a small side blow and a pointer to Robert Basic. He is writing an article about the things you should NOT do in a blog or on a website. It is...
Mein erster Post
Portal Redesign
I have to admit, I was quite satisfied using Wordpress with www.stargazer.at as cms for my portal page as it is quite flexible and somehow extendable with plugins. But it is too small for being a full blown portal sit...
Zwei mal Wordpress
