The apple cult

I guess I’m not the only one out there who isn’t able to understand certain things - and this time I’m not talking about women. It’s Apple and their cult around their products - as currently demonstrated with the iPhone.

No matter what they’re doing: a pc, a mp3 player, a phone - no matter what they do, it’s all causing a hype which runs through the blogsphere and every media I know. But why? Let’s take the iPod as an example: It’s a noise machine like every other mp3 player and it’s support for different media formats is pretty poor. Yes, there are better ones - the only difference is that those players are rather unknown.

Why?

I guess that’s a matter of marketing and personalizing things - it’s that ‘my iPod’ feeling they’re selling. It’s that ‘that is my baby’ feeling they’re trying to sell which everybody acts on.
