Epic fails: Apple can do too.
We all laughed about Microsoft error messages. Here's a recent snapshot I made on an apple computer: "Windows 7 or older versions are not supported on this Mac." "Boot Camp only supports the installation of Windows 8...

A short Hands-on: iPhone 6
Everybody around me was going crazy for the new iPhone 6. So I got the chance to get a closer look at one of those devices. Honestly, I am really appalled how cheap the device feels compared to the older 5s (the ones...

Dies k...

Suspect things going on
It's not a secret that I tend to dislike apple for the way they raped BSD to get it useable for the masses, but what they do to me from the programmers point of view, is insane. Let's start out with a simple MAMP inst...

Clickable shell scripts
I am working quite a lot using shell scripts to make my work easier and a few of them are even on my desktop to perform some one click actions. Sadly this doesn't work on my mac as it just gets opened in an editor, ig...

Activating SSH on OSX
My beloved Lenovo notebook actually is gone for repair due to some hardware trouble - so I am stuck with a not-so-beloved mac. For working I do need a sshd daemon running, which is - hooray - shipped per default. You...

Skype vs Growl 1.3
Since working on my Mac, I have to admit that I got used to use Growl for notifications as it's a pretty way to get notifications in a non-disturbing way. But since Growl 1.3 Skype went on strike - just like a couple...

iWechDamit

Live and let live
Looking at the IT world, there are many systems to work with and many arguments against them. It's amazing, but it's common that users flame each other. Linux guys pick on Windows users, Windows users hit apple. In th...

Mac-Tip
Screenshots are cool for technical support tasks as they are useful for analyzing error messages. I noticed that Apple users usually send quite many screenshots (as I get them quite often). After a while a friend told...

A MacBook
I have to admit, I didn't really look at Macintosh. Well - disregarding the apples in the store of course. But since quite some time, I am having to deal with those systems. So I got one. As a hardcore Linux-User, I'm...

Saving power
Saving power gets more and more important in our times, not just because of saving the environment, also the marketing people found a way to sell it. But if we are talking about power saving, we are also talking about...

Windfall
Today I have really started thinking about apple computers again due to the latest incident. This time we're talking about windows shares in a cooperated network, called smb or samba shares in combination with an acti...

But apple can do
I recently got the chance to check out an apple server box and work with it for a little while, as the admin there was absent and some stuff had to be done - especially the updates which I had to do. Fine thing for su...

The apple cult
I guess I'm not the only one out there who isn't able to understand certain things - and this time I'm not talking about women. It's Apple and their cult around their products - as currently demonstrated with the iPho...

(cr)apple!
